SERVICE PLANS

Prime Power (frequent use)

Depending on size and make of generator there will be different time periods between servicing anywhere between 250 and 400 hours. Our servicing plan allows for a discount on a SERVICE “A” when pre booking 3 or more services per year. To find out recommended service intervals contact your generator manufacturer or call us for advice.

Standby Power (emergency back up)

Manufacturers recommend in addition to a Service “A” a Service “B” for standby use, normally 6 months apart i.e. two visits per year. This service is designed to pick up any unforseen issues that could effect the operation of your generator and provide peventative maintenance for future operation.

Although servicing your generator is a requirement for any new generator to comply with the manufacturer’s warranty, there are a number of good reasons why you should consider getting your generator serviced on a regular basis.

Safety
A regular service can help to identify potential problems before they become a reality. Servicing will make sure that essential checks are carried out to critical generator components such as cooling system, fuel system and safety system. Regular servicing provides peace of mind that the generator will start and run when needed.
A minimum requirement for a safe generator is a working emergency shut down operation and that all safety guards are in place and secure.

Save money
Failing to service your generator at the recommended intervals just to save a few pounds really is a false economy. Regular servicing can help to identify issues early on that could later become costly and expensive to put right. Take a diesel engine for example, oil is needed to lubricate and protect the moving parts inside the engine. Without it, internal parts wear and long term an engine could seize up costing thousands to repair or replace. All our services and service plans include checking the engine oil and, if needed, replacing this with fresh oil specifically designed for the diesel generator.
Regular servicing can also save money regarding fuel efficiency. Fuel, oil and air filters make for a smoother running engine and a more fuel efficient generator,
Furthermore, not servicing your generator increases your chances of a breakdown – which is both costly and inconvenient if you subsequently become reliant on generator hire or service engineer call outs.

Longevity
Regular servicing your generator will undoubtedly improve the life span of the generator. A well serviced diesel generator can still provide reliable power for over 30,000 hours and for decades.

Maintaining your Asset Value
A generator purchase is an expensive outlay for most individuals or companies. Showing that you have looked after your generator with regular servicing, helps with the price should you want to trade in or sell on.
